Salar de Uyuni travel photo memories. We bussed to Uyuni from Potosi and it was an enjoyable, scenic ride through the countryside; highly recommended. Same as our experience going to see the Nazca Lines in Peru, we couldn’t afford the cadillac tour – four days on the salar visiting many locations – yet the budget travelers version was still excellent and very worthwhile.
From Uyuni you stop at the train cemetery for a few photos, then to Colchani to see salt-making in action, then onto the salar and to a salt hotel and museum; shown in the video below.
After ‘ooing and ahhing’ over the sturdy sculptures and furniture made solely out of salt, you hop back in the jeep to drive across the salar (how they know what direction to go is beyond me!) to Fish Island, for a few hours to have lunch and take photographs.
