Hiking around town in Tupiza, Bolivia. We hung-out in Tupiza, Bolivia for two months… the first month simply to relax, get some work done, do a little horseback riding.
We also needed to save money to head to the Salar de Uyuni and Potosi. The second month was simply because we liked it so much didn’t want to leave.
The awesome teen is into hiking, and took the video below atop La Cruz lookout point. It takes over an hour to walk to the base, then another hour or so walking up stairs – a lot of stairs – to get to the top. Make sure you have plenty of water!
I love to hike too, but don’t love getting wiped out from pushing myself too far; enjoy shorter trips. I’ve dealt with chronic health issues for many years, and know I have a much better time when I take it easy instead of overdoing it.
I walked to the ‘Christ the Reedemer’ statue just outside of town for my daytrip. When visiting Tupiza you can’t help but notice the large and a bit gaudy statue of Christ that is up on a hillside.
To view up close is a 15 minute walk from Plaza Principal. Just keep it in site, and keep heading in that direction and you will find it. Is a bit interesting short walk as well as you get to see a residential area of the town.
Lots of cheap eats in Tupiza, after your hike, do as I didn’t do (I don’t eat very many sweets) and have a lovely ice cream cone from a local vendor.
Sometimes you see a cart and think they are selling ice cream, but it’s not; whipped cream is served up in cones too as a snack… the low-cost ice cream alternative I guess and still yummy 🙂 Cheers.
