Watching fishermen at Manglaralto Beach in Southern Ecuador was fun to accidentally happen upon, and if you ever visit Southern Ecuador near Salinas or Montanita, you need to hop on a local bus and ride for a bit, looking out the window to see what appeals to you and then simply hop off.
The busses run regularily, you simply wait again by the roadside when wanting to return to your hotel and get back on in the other direction.
In addition, not only are taxis dirt cheap, there are shared cabs also; cars that drive up and down the coast picking up groups of passengers.
When I did this and landed in Manglaralto, I walked to the beach and saw a line of men pulling in a net (what you see in the photo). It took an hour or so, but when it was finally pulled in all the locals descended from the woodwork to grab a bag full of fish.
From what I gathered, and what you will see in the video above, the ones who got there first and walked far out into the water where the ones who were grabbing all the goods!
The sweet black lab below, was content to just sit and watch.
